The Heliconia Psittacorum brings an amazing tropical touch being a close relative of the banana. An evergreen perennial it can grow up to 8ft tall with glossy intense green oblong shaped leaves, smooth but leathery in texture with prominent central veins. Eye-catching upright inflorescences, in colors of red, orange yellow and greens are long lasting and appear when the plant has reached around 2 years old. The heliconia has no particular blooming season and can flower at any time throughout the year and also able to self pollinate.
