Dypsis Prestoniana. Tavilo Palm.The Dypsis Prestoniana is not only quite a rare palm in cultivation but is also classed as vunerable in habitat, only known in the Midongy region of Madagascar. A very beautiful palm it's solitary trunk is straight, light greyish green to dark grey in colour and ringed with leaf scars on all but its older parts. Mature palms have between 8-10 leaves up to 7ft long with short petioles which arch gracefully at the tip. Dark green leaflets are grouped and can be up to 4ft long growing from the rachis at different angles making the leaves densely plumose. No true 'closed' crowshaft is present.A great palm for the collectors.
